Siobhan Kennedy-Clarke’s classic film reviews

It was ages before I got round to watching this because I didn’t see the point of it and having eventually watched it I still don’t really it’s set in prison and that’s not a place I want to spend time in even in my mind. The film got loads of awards but wasn’t very popular at the box office and I’m not surprised because it’s a funny way to spend a couple of hours if you ask me.

But it has been very successful on video and movie channels which means people would rather watch it in private when no one knows there doing it it’s also very big in the gay community.

Who wants to imagine living most of there life in prison because that is the power of film it takes you into someone else’s world whether you like it or not and in this case I don’t. I’d rather be in Harry Potter’s world or working in a fast food joint like Mystic Pizza at least they get out and spend time in a little seaside town even if its not such a widely thought of movie.

Anyways Morgan Freeman is always good and Tim Robbins does well there the main characters The Odd Couple you could say but they help each other through this horrible time there both having. Tim is this financial wiz who helps the prison governor with some sort of dodge he’s got going and his reward is to be protected by the prison guards.

There is a lot of homosexuality going on which apparently happens a lot (not Morgan and Tim) in prisons especially long term inmates I suppose they’ve got to do something more exciting than play with themselves for 20 years. I’ve got nothing against gay people there’s a couple of guys in our block of flats I think are at it but there quite nice. I just don’t want to think about it all the time no offence lads you carry on but its not for me. I’ve never been into girls myself even though somehow that dosen’t seem so unnatural.

But here I am talking about myself and not the film well some people say this is one of the best films of all time and when they say that I suppose you ought to check it out and now I’ve done that but I won’t be watching it again in a hurry. Sorry, like, but it ain’t my idea of fun.
